Boost Your Energy and Become Contagious!

High Energy, Happy, Friends JumpingEnergy  can be defined as – the ability to be active; the physical or mental strength that allows you to do things.

What do you do to boost your energy?  Most of us have ideas, strategies and methods to combat our depleting energy.

We eagerly share what works and what backfires for us and in return gain new approaches to aid with this ongoing dilemma.

For various reasons…days are shorter, continuous cold weather, holiday season, preparing for a new year, wanting to accomplish more…I went searching for fresh approaches to address the low energy dilemma.

In looking for new means to boost energy I found a few long-lasting solutions to fight off fatigue and boost energy.  Some you may already use and some you might just be eager to try.

Increase Your Magnesium Intake

Your energy can drop when magnesium, a mineral that aids in breaking down glucose into energy, is low.

A few suggestions:

  • In your daily diet, include a handful of almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts or cashews. Nuts are also high in folic acid, which along with magnesium, is an essential nutrient for energy and cell production.
  • Increase your intake of whole grains, specifically bran cereal. Eating more whole grains, such as brown rice and whole-wheat bread, keeps your blood sugar and energy stable and raises the levels of the “feel-good” chemical-serotonin.
  • Eat more fish, especially halibut.

Eat Breakfast and Don’t Skip Meals

Breakfast provides your body fuel in the morning which helps to fight off fatigue.  Research has shown that missing a meal during the day leads to feeling less energetic by the end of the day.

Deal with Anger

Unexpressed anger can lead to exhaustion because you are trying to contain it.  This leads to stress which also depletes your energy.  You can boost your energy by finding ways to relax and relieve anger and stress.

A few suggestions:

  • Reading for fun
  • Exercise
  • Listening to music

Grab a peppermint or cinnamon stick

Peppermint, water, refreshing

Studies show that the aroma from peppermint and cinnamon can make you feel more alert.

Have a drink of water

You are less likely to feel tired if you stay hydrated.  Research reports dehydration can slow your metabolism and leave you feeling low on energy.  Just as thirst can fool us into thinking we are hungry…thirst can also hide as fatigue.  The solution…have a drink of water!

So – do any of these energy boosting solutions interest you?  Do you think you might give one a try in the next 30 days?  If you are already using one of these energy boosting methods – share it with others!  One more way of boosting your energy is hanging out with upbeat friends; their emotions are contagious.  Boost your energy and become contagious too!
